Pathiramanal Island, located in the Alappuzha district of Kerala, is a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. Spanning 10 acres in the serene Vembanad Lake, this green island is a sanctuary for hundreds of rare migratory birds from around the world, as well as a diverse range of flora and fauna. The name "Pathiramanal" translates to "Sands of Night," adding to the mystical allure of this beautiful spot.

Accessible only by boat, Pathiramanal lies between the backwaters of Thaneermukkom and Kumarakom and falls under the Cherthala taluk. The island is also known by other names, such as Ananda Padmanabhan Thoppu and Pathira Thoppu. The journey to Pathiramanal from Alappuzha takes about 1.5 hours by motorboat or 30 minutes by speedboat, making it an ideal pit stop during a houseboat cruise.
